Panoramic Beirut
1870 / 1910 / 1952 / (...)
This publication presents a comprehensive exploration of Beirut’s evolving landscape over the decades, illustrating the city’s significant changes. It offers an overview of architectural developments, highlighting both the structures that have endured and those lost to the Lebanese Civil War. Through carefully selected photographs, it paints a nostalgic portrait of a bygone Beirut while comparing it to its contemporary state in 2017. The challenge lay in capturing the city’s panoramic landscapes within a single book. To achieve this, a unique folder structure was designed to organize the decades and categorize them by year. This bilingual publication, available in Arabic and English, as well as Arabic and French, includes panoramic leporellos of 1870 – 2017 and insightful texts by Antoine Atallah.
